Jam tomorrow is only an effective/believable inducement to delay taking a decision (eg about liquidating an asset or continuing to endure tedium), if the following conditions are fulfilled:
1 Tomorrow's date is specified precisely, and
2 You will have the bread and butter available to serve with that jam in the future.
