Given that the two perspective Democrat presidential candidates are intent on tearing themselves apart, and splitting the party in two, it is clear that the Democrats have all but lost the presidential election before it has even been run.

Why does the Democrat party bother to involve itself in politics, given that it clearly has no wish to win?
