I would like to wish you a Happy New Year, whichever timezone in the world you reside in.
Do not dwell in the past, or overanalyse the present; as the undiscovered country of the future will bring about change.
When you are running up behind me, and I move to the left to give you maximum space to pass me, DO NOT puff, pant and wheeze "move out of my way" at me!
I haven't got eyes in the back of my head and you are more than capable of running around me, given that I had moved as far left as I could!
Just a gentle reminder that whilst people are sad that they may not be able to meet with their loved ones at Christmas because of covid, bear in mind that families with loved ones in the forces and merchant navy face that prospect/possibility every Christmas!
Kay Burley had been bragging for weeks how she had been breaking lockdown laws - until a team of her own Sky News Producers’ hired security firm to snap her partying....Oops! https://t.co/9BsmYDNPux— Rob Boyd, Esq. (@AvonandsomerRob) December 13, 2020
When you allow your own (or others') fear of death to negatively impact your quality of life, you need to slap yourself firmly about the face and remind yourself that you don't get another life!
Don't let the fear of death diminish your lust for life!
Riddle me this, riddle me that:
When is a non compulsory vaccine compulsory?
When the government insists that venues, such as pubs and restaurants etc, only allow you in with a vaccine certificate!

Either change your hair dye, or go au naturel!
Certain banks and financial institutions are proposing that those who work from home after the pandemic should pay more tax, in order to support those who have to travel to the office.
These institutions are not thinking of others, but merely themselves.
For you see dear reader, they have large sums of money tied up in commercial property investments.
Unless those properties are occupied they lose a fortune. Therefore from the banks' perspective the more people who are taxed back to offices, the better
Given that you are so keen to inject "hope" into millions of arms this winter, I trust and assume that you will be doing a Gummer and (at the very least, if you don't have one of your children to hand) taking one in the arm yourself?
People become terribly stressed when they realise that they have painted themselves into a corner.
They have no need to be stressed, for the solution is simple. Just walk back across the painted area, and paint over the footprints.
In the event you don't have enough of the original paint to do that, then either change the colour or simply say that the footprints were part of the original design.
Every time there is a change of President in the USA, the media and certain politicians/political commentators wax lyrical about the so called "special" relationship and fret whether it will continue under whoever is the new President.
Whilst personal chemistry (or lack of it) between the President and the Prime Minister can be a help or hindrance to the optics of the interactions between the USA and UK, there has never been a "special" relationship in the sense that the media and politicians would like to have us believe.
The USA and UK, because of their shared heritage, history and economic/security ties will continue to work together no matter who is President or Prime Minister. However, never be under any illusion that the UK will be treated "specially", the USA always acts in what it perceives to be its own best interests!
It is apparent that:
- Lockdowns don't work
- Lockdowns cause untold damage (metal health, non covid health issues and economic carnage)
- Track and trace apps in Europe have failed
- Politicians don't have a plan, other than to wait for the "vaccine "
Will the politicians change tack?
Will they fuck!
I find it "ironic" that since I have been mandated by the government to leave my contact details with pubs and restaurants, I have been on the receiving end of numerous scam phone calls!
When all else fails, double down on what you did before that didn't work but call it something else!
It won't work, and it will be in place a lot longer than 16 days!
Every leader at some stage faces a decision where whatever he/she decides will lead to the deaths of thousands, no matter what he/she decides the leader will be blamed for those deaths (ie they face a no win scenario).
When faced with such a decision, the true leader (the one that will go down in history as a great leader) needs to grasp history by the privates and seek Captain Kirk's Kobayashi Maru solution (one that breaks the rules and dispenses with the binary choice no win scenario).
It should be noted that not every leader has gone down in history as a great leader!
Defined paths (this is how things have been done before) and copycat policies are not always the best way to handle situations such as Covid, especially when they make things worse.
The trouble is, no country or leader will admit that they have got it wrong.
Hence many countries are now doubling down on restrictions that will make things worse.
