Those who care about the happiness of others will be happier than those who look for their own happiness.

Attitude

Instead of looking for the bad things in your life and making yourself miserable, look for the good things and feel good about your life.

Pleasure

Pleasure is not the same as happiness.

Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown has just achieved his life's ambition, and been anointed Prime Minister.

One would have expected him to look happy, healthy and energised in the first few weeks in office.

The question therefore arises, why does he look so ill and so obviously unhealthy?

Happiness

True sustainable happiness cannot be derived from transitory pleasures, such as consumerism or driving a luxury car, it can only be derived and sustained from long term friendships, relationships and meaningful interactions with fellow human beings.

Martyrdom

If martyrdom truly brings eternal happiness, how is that those who encourage young men to sacrifice their lives and become martyrs are old?

Excess Wealth

Those people who have "excess wealth", a subjective term I know, despite the trappings of wealth and their ability to do whatever they want have little happiness.

Look into their eyes, there is no sparkle of joy or happiness there.

Only when you face, and overcome, adversity and challenges do you achieve completeness and inner peace.
