As such, peace treaties aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

As we are currently experiencing a rare period of relatively low level tensions, it would be in everyone's interests if the relevant parties in the region moved forward from an armistice to a full and complete peace treaty.

The foundations for lasting peace (in a region, or between various groups) are only stable if the foundations are constructed by those who are currently doing the fighting, peace that is imposed/enforced by others never lasts.
