The "Protective" Embrace of The State

 

When the State (government, NHS, PHE etc) claim that they want to protect you, run a mile.

The only things that they are interested in protecting are their careers and reputations!

It's not the role of the state to try to make you feel comfortable in your own skin, or good about yourself.

It is unwise to publicly state, with a fanfare or publicity, that a problem is resolved when it is not.

Hope

A regime or government that offers it subjects no hope of better things to come, but merely offers them a perpetual struggle against a state hyped "threat", is destined to be consigned to the funeral pyre of history.

Offices of State

It is entirely correct and proper that Offices of State such as; the President, the Prime Minister, the King/Queen etc should be respected.

However, it is not always the case that those people who hold these offices are, or indeed should be, respected.

The Immutable Laws of The Universe

The Immutable Laws of The Universe are as follows:

• It is impossible to achieve a state of zero risk



• The costs of trying to achieve zero risk are truly staggering, and are simply not economically viable



• Struggle gives life meaning



• Profit is the reward for risk.
  
  We live in a capitalist society, and rely on companies and individuals to earn money to make the economy work and grow. Without this growth we would still all be festering in caves.
  
  Zero risk means zero profit, which in turn means that no one would go into business and the economy would grind to a halt

Relying on The State

Relying on the state to act as arbiter in day to day situations simply turns people into mindless automatons, destined to decay and wallow in their own filth as they wait for the state to wipe their bottoms.

Aspirations

In order for mankind to develop and improve it is important that people are not held back, in a misguided attempt by the state to "protect" those at the lower echelons, by those at the lowest level of society.

People need to be challenged, by aspiring to the standards set by those at the very top, in order to give of their best.

The resulting improvements and developments will be to everyone's benefit.

A crucial part of growing up is about learning how to handle accidents and mishaps.

Children who are wrapped in cotton wool grow into immature pathetic adults who are incapable of looking after themselves, and who rely on the state for every little thing.

The concept of European hegemony, as espoused by the member states of the EU, is doomed to failure.

That will be the case as long as the European Central Bank (ECB) pursues a policy of artificially overvaluing the Euro, and individual member states break the rules regarding the free movement of labour across national borders.

Being British is not dependent on your place of birth, or your genetic background; it is a state of mind.

How To Spot a Lie

The following is an example of a lie, often used by criminals:

"I would like to state categorically that I have never taken the money"

The liar is not saying that he/she did not take the money, merely that he/she would like to say that he/she did not take the money.

Clever eh?

Watch out for this lie, it is used a lot.

Graphologists

The number of companies using graphologists, to assess job interview candidates, has been increasing steadily.

The companies believe that the study of handwriting can lead to a meaningful insight into a person's character and mental state.

Utter tosh!

They would be just as well served by hiring an astrologer to conduct a palm reading.

My advice to those of you attending job interviews is simple; if the company uses graphology as part of their interview technique, walk out and don't waste your time, the company clearly has no idea how to asses people and doubtless has a lousy HR record.

What Does The UN Do?

What does the UN actually do?

It is impotent when it comes to preventing/stopping wars and aggression between nation states.

It has been slow to act in response to last week's tsunami, yet it was very prompt to criticise the actions of other countries.

It seems that the time is now right to restructure this political dinosaur.

The American Dream

The American dream, whereby all the citizens of the United States can become millionaires, is an impossibility.

You cannot have a society whereby all are equally wealthy.

Those that hold this belief are destined for a big time disappointment.

Less Government

Governments are inflexible, their desire to intrude into peoples' lives stifles initiative and progress.

The firmer the grip that the State has over society, the more stagnant and inflexible that society becomes.

It is a hackneyed phrase, but "less government is better government".
